Mike’s work ethic and business experience were learned early on while working his way through college. Graduating from the Shepherds School of Ministry and then the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Mike quickly rose through the ranks of the business world. Beginning at Quest Communications, he eventually landed at Sprint, where for several years as an award-winning businessperson, he traveled throughout western Missouri consulting with small businesses and individuals. At this early stage in his career, Mike had a goal when working with his clients. “I wanted to make the complicated, less complicated.” In 2005, he decided to put his future in his own hands and started his own mortgage company.  The experience was extremely rewarding and Mike was able to help hundreds of families across Missouri. Mike’s unique experience as a start-up small business owner taught him firsthand about the legal challenges that face small businesses and individuals every day.  Mike earned his law degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City and worked in a prominent full service firm for several years handling cases throughout western Missouri. In 2013 Mike formed his own law firm and continues his goal of making the complicated, less complicated for his clients.

Family

Mike and his wife met at their church and have been active members of the community for many years.  His wife worked for 8 years at a local hospice helping terminal patients and their families cope with the difficult and challenging situations of end-of-life care and now stays home to care for their family.

Mike, his wife, and four kids, are all active members of their church, the Midtown Baptist Temple. In addition to Mike’s work in the business community, he received his ministry license in 1997 after preaching and teaching in churches in the four-state area for several years.  He still serves in the teaching and training ministry in his church today.

Community

Mike’s work in the community began over 20 years ago when he traveled as a volunteer to the country of Romania after the fall of Communism. It was there he taught students and student leaders in churches throughout the country. Since then Mike has taken several trips throughout Europe and North America, including trips to churches in the Kansas City area, training pastors and their members.

In 2001 and 2004, Mike worked on the White House Advance team in and around the Kansas City area preparing events ahead of Presidential visits. In 2007, Mike was appointed to Grain Valley’s Board of Zoning Adjustments and then to the Planning and Zoning Commission, where he still volunteers in the planning and approval of plans for the rapidly growing community. Over the years, Mike has enjoyed coaching numerous youth and adult athletic teams. Mike’s volunteerism has also included his work as Sprint’s Corporate Liaison for the United Way; his work delivering food to the homeless with Project Uplift and work with the Salvation Army.
